Laide Bakare’s Investments In Distress?

These are not the best of times for popular actress, Laide Bakare, as she seems to have been caught in the web of the face-off involving her husband, Alhaji Atanda Orilowo, a.k.a ATM, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a multi-billion Naira estate project in Lagos.
Her husband had threatened to go to court to put a stop to the intimidation by EFCC and settle all the issues once and for all, but it seems the man was just bragging. He has not been seen and the anti-corruption body say Alhaji Orilowo is on the run. They’ve now been empowered to take over his properties
And for actress Laide Bakare, things have turned from celebration to crises and getting worse since EFCC had got an order of court – a forfeiture order – on all known properties of her husband, following the alleged fraud of about N2.5bn meant for the construction of a Y’ellow Estate in the Ajah area of Lagos.
After placing the order on his filling stations, EFCC is now set to shut down the boutique he opened for her.

Another Bomb Blast In Nyanya Abuja

On Worker’s Day, it was reported that another bomb blast had occurred in Nyanya, Abuja. As of 9pm yesterday, 17 have been confirmed dead, but the death toll is expected to rise, as corpses were still being counted when reports were made, Vanguard reports.

The bombing which occurred as residents who attended May Day celebrations were returning home, took place at Wazobia Park, Nyanya, just opposite where the last attacks occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, a car bomb was the source of the explosions.

My heart is broken, our daughters have been taken away from us. 234 has become a memorable number but not for a good cause. It’s been 2weeks and all we hear is that our daughters have been abducted, I can’t even imagine my innocence at that age.
I can’t imagine the pains and agony their parents are going through now, their sleepless nights, their tears, etc. It could have happened to anyone, this could have been your daughter, sister, niece, god daughter, neighbours’ daughter or your student.
All they wanted was to go to school and read, what crime did they commit to deserve this wicked and inhumane treatment. We are not going to relent in prayers.
We are tired of all this!!!! The Time To Act is Now.

P-Square Set To Unveil ‘Testimony

It seems after the whole squall, the group; P-Square is back , as report gathered by Nigeriafilms.com has it that the duo are already on set of the video for their new single, 'Testimony'.
'Testimony' which has been the rave of radio stations' play since its first appearance, sees the duo narrating how far they have come since their entrance into the music scene.
And of course, it's a testimony for the brothers as they have made lots of cash, fame, married to beautiful ladies who gave them cute children and loads of properties and endorsement deals to their names.
But the question is, could this be the reason why the duo's manager/brothet Paul Okoye twitted : After 10 years of hard work, it's over I'm done?

Amaka Igwe... The Brain Behind Check Mate Is Dead

One of the Nollywood Popular film producer, director, and writer, Amaka Igwe is dead. She reportedly died of an asthma attack last night.The news of her death which came to many as a shock, was contained in a statement issued Tuesday in Lagos by The Nigerian Entertainment (NET).

The statement said that Amaka died on Monday night in Enugu after a brief illness. Reputed for her professional and brilliant concepts, Amaka produced breathtaking sitcoms like Checkmate and Fuji House of Commotion. She is producer of the award winning movie Forever and founder of Amaka Igwe Studios and Top FM Radio.She is one of the foremost movie directors in Nigeria today, a leading player in the motion picture industry.

Her death has triggered lots of reactions from the public, with many expressing surprise at what was seen as the sudden death of the Nollywood star.

One of the earliest reactions came from former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who described Amaka as the jewel of the Nollywood industry.

Atiku, in a tribute to Amaka, expressed shock at her demise, describing her as a major player in the Nigerian movie industry.
Atiku recalled that Mrs. Igwe's first major production: “Decrees of Fate” won four awards at the National Festival of Television Programmes in 1988.

“Amaka (Igwe) was one of the pioneers of the movie industry. Her presence in Nollywood grew to become quite impressive as she amassed a number of well received movies,” Atiku said.

According to him, her long-running TV drama serial “Checkmate” and the sitcom “Fuji House of Commotion” regularly held families spellbound.

Similarly, former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, noted that the death of Amaka was not only a blow to Nollywood, but to the country at large.

Amaka hails from Obinagu, Enugu, Nigeria is survived by her husband and children.

18-year-old Ana Rosa Mora killed Her Own Child

18-year-old Ana Rosa Mora (pictured above) has been arrested for killing her own child because the new born baby looked like her ex-boyfriend.

Ana reportedly wrapped her baby in a bag and left him outside to die because she feared the child looked like her ex-boyfriend and her current boyfriend would leave her.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the teen gave birth last weekend and attended school on Monday after allegedly committing the act and even showed staff members pictures of a newborn girl that she claimed she downloaded from the Internet.

But after employees noticed strange behavior - such as the girl asking if authorities could link her to the child through DNA and lying about the baby's age - they alerted authorities.

The child had been found by a construction worker a few hours after the child was left outside. The boy was born alive but died of asphyxia and possible exposure, authorities said.

The new mother said her ex-boyfriend was the father and when the child was born she feared her current boyfriend would notice and leave her, the newspaper reported. She was arrested Friday April 25th.

Mora, who was scheduled to graduate from high school in June and attend college in the fall is facing charges of first-degree murder and is now being held on $500,000 bail.

'Love Me Je Je Crooner,' Seyi Sodimu Back With New Single, 'Pele Pele'

Seyi Sodimu has now decided to shift base to Nigeria after a long sojourn in the US.
The star has also dropped a new single titled, 'Pele Pele', a re-make of Ebenezer Obey's 'Ore Mi Se Pele Pele'.
Seyi has been absent from the music scene for a while to pursue other business ventures including real estate, fashion, automotives, and many other businesses. His last single Gbedu was released 2 years ago.
His style of music has been described as Afro-soul which is a fusion of African music, soul and high-life, geared towards a mature crowd while at the same time appealing to the youth and the masses.
This new single is supposed to be the first in a series. And subsequent singles will follow to mark his return to the Nigerian music scene. The new single was directed and shot by Sesan Ogunro of Film Factory in London .
On this project Seyi Sodimu worked with master producer Shizzi (Seyi Akerele) and Bankulli of Bankulli Entertainment for A&R and direction of the whole project.
