OAU Lecturer Fohnd Dead In His Office

The lecturer was later confirmed dead after he was rushed to the university’s health centre.

Lifeless body of a lecturer, Dr Nicholas Igbokwe, was on Saturday morning found in his office at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Until his death, Igbokwe was a lecturer in the Physical and Health Education Department of the university.
Although there is no official statement yet as to how the incident happened, a source in the department, said the late academic might have died on Friday without anyone knowing about it.

The source said, “His lifeless body was already cold when it was discovered around 12 midnight on Saturday.

“That suggests he died on Friday without anyone knowing about it. I passed by his office around 7.30pm on Friday and his car was not parked at the usual spot. So, no one knew he was around.

“Some members of staff later observed light was on in his office and entered there. He was already cold by then.”
The lecturer was confirmed dead at the university’s health centre.

The Public Relations Officer of the university, Abiodun Olanrewaju, told Sunday PUNCH that the late Igbokwe would be missed for his contributions to the university.

He said, “I have not been fully briefed regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. From the information available to me, he was rushed to the OAU Health Centre, but he died before getting to the facility.”

He passed on peacefully on Saturday, December 7. Surrounded by his family.
His demise was announced on his facebook page.

“For the past 60 years he has preached the glorious Gospel of Jesus throughout the entire world. We want to thank you on behalf of him and our family, for your kind love and unwavering support, which enabled him to preach the matchless message of salvation to countless people,” part of the statement read.

The Federal High Court in Lagos would be hearing the file of Olumuyiwa Danladi popularly known as Danny Young against Tiwa Savage over copyright infringement.

According to a reliable source, Plaintiff is seeking a declaration that by copying, recording, reproducing and broadcasting his musical composition and melody without his authorisation the defendants have infringed on his copyright.

In the suit  FHC/L/XS/230/2019 and pending before Justice Mohammed Liman, Danny Young claimed a huge sum of N205 million for damages against Tiwa for using his musical work titled 'ONE' without lawful authority this also includes Don Jazzy the founder of Marvins Records.

16 Feared Dead As Lightning Struck Church In Rwanda

At least 16 people were killed and dozens more injured after lightning struck a Seventh-Day Adventist church in Rwanda, a local official said Sunday.

Fourteen victims were killed on the spot as lightning hit the church in the Nyaruguru district in the Southern Province on Saturday, local mayor Habitegeko Francois told AFP over the phone.

Two others died later from their injuries, he said.

He added that 140 people involved in the incident had been rushed to hospital and district health centres, but that many had already been discharged.

“Doctors say that only three of them are in critical condition but they are getting better,” he said.

According to the mayor, a similar accident took place on Friday when lightning struck a group of 18 students, killing one of them.
