Nigerian Monarch In Alleged N150million Romance Scam, Multi-million Naira Fraud

Halima Oniru, the estranged wife of the Olu of Orile-Kemta in Ogun State, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuoso, has accused the monarch of allegedly obtaining millions of naira from her under false pretences, among other allegations.

Oniru had earlier petitioned the Inspector General of Police through her counsel, J. S Agada & Co., accusing the traditional ruler of fraudulently coming up with many business plans to swindle her company, Haleems Integrated Services Limited.

She told journalists on Sunday that Oba Tejuoso had borrowed up to N150 million from her on the pretence of “pursuing a chieftaincy title in Ogun State.”

She added that the monarch had at one time presented to her forged receipts of some of the transactions to defraud her of a huge sum of money.

Oniru said that the traditional ruler had also threatened to blackmail her by releasing her nude pictures on social media, Daily Post reports.

“In the guise of doing certain kinds of business, he continued to place incessant/continuous demand for monies running into hundreds of millions. We finally came together and were cohabiting as husband and wife. In the course of our being together, I got to know about these other sides of his fraudulent and numerous nefarious activities,” she said.

“As a result, I confronted him on same and as a result, he started beating and attempted killing me at any slighted opportunity and he finally pushed me out of the house without allowing me to carry any of my belongings from the house. There are pictures of the various degree of injuries inflicted on me by the suspect in the course of beating me and attempting to kill me.

“Tejuoso forged and doctored some receipts through which he defrauded me of huge sums of money on different occasion unnoticed. For example, on one occasion, the suspect collected the sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira) from me as the cost for buying an excavator and after the purchase of same, he brought a forged receipt of payment bearing the sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira) only but when I investigated the said price from the original seller of the excavator, it was discovered through the original receipt of payment issued in respect of the purchase, the same bears the sum of N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) only against the doctored sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira) only which he claimed he bought the excavator.”

However, Oba Tejuoso debunked the allegations, saying the woman lied against him.

The monarch, who confirmed being aware of the petition, said the money he owed Oniru was not up to N150 million.

His words: “On the N150 million, we have been dragging this for 2 years now. I told her to prove to me where she got the N150 million from. Let me be frank with you, there has been money issue between me and Halima. I told her to calculate what she had taken, how much is left, and how much I’m going to refund her. She has been running away from that, all she’s saying is that I’m owing her N150 million

Bandits Adopt Thuraya Phones As Govt Shut Down Mobile Networks

Bandits are now using the network service of Niger Republic to coordinate attacks, according to Aminu Almustapha Gobir, member representing Sabon Birni North Constituency in the Sokoto House of Assembly.

As part of measures to check banditry, the Nigerian government had shut down telecommunication services in three states – Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina.

This had reportedly cut off communication between bandits and their informants.

But as a means of circumventing the security measure, bandits have now resorted to using the telecom service of the neighbouring country which shares border with Nigeria through Sokoto.

“This is why I faulted the government for shutting GSM network in the eastern part of the state without a serious military operation taking place there.

“The bandits are now using Nigerien network to communicate within themselves and perpetrate their heinous activities in the area.

“I expect our Governor to provide Divisional Police Officers and the military deployed to Sokoto East with Thuraya phone which could enable them to communicate within themselves and with their superior officers if they need help since there is no GSM network.

“This is what the Governor of Zamfara did and it’s paying off positively,” he said
