The budget was passed at a sitting presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, after a presentation of the report by Chairman of the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Gbolahan Yishawu.

Yishawu, after the plenary, explained that the total budget size passed has addition of left overs from the previous allocations in the 2021 budget.

He said the leftover was rolled into ‘contingency fund’ in the year 2022 budget.

He also put the Capital and Recurrent Expenditure ratio at 66:34.

Popular Yoruba Movie Director’s Marriage Crashes As Wife Accused Him Of Kidnapping

An exclusive information reaching us from the household of one of the creative Yoruba movie directors, Adekola Ojelere popularly known as Mr Merry, is that his supposed 2-year-old marriage to Favour Aghotor Abraham, a native of Delta State has crumbled.

On 28th December 2019, the popular Ghana based Nollywood movie director walked down the aisle with the love of his heart at The Apostolic Church, Ipaja Assembly, beside New Post Office, Ipaja, Lagos State, Nigeria and had the wedding reception at Ferguson Event Center, Dangote Bus Stop, Alhaja Road, Ayobo, Lagos, where several Nollywood actors graced the occasion.

The latest information gathered by Gbolahan Adetayo about the union is that, immediately after the wedding, the marriage began to suffer a set back as the bride’s mum allegedly moved into the director’s abode to be living with them.

At this juncture, she allegedly took over the control of the house, dictating what should be done in her son in-law’s home.

The issue, we learnt was going on for long thinking that it will be sorted out. Alas, nothing was resolved as Adekola couldn’t send his mother inlaw away.

The unacceptable behaviour from his wife’s mum was getting out of hand on daily basis before the marriage crashed six months after the elaborate wedding.

As at that moment, Favour Aghotor we were told abandoned the children (twins) she had for him in Ghana, and for four days she didn’t look back to check on them.

Ojelere we scooped, couldn’t give the kids the adequate cares they needed because of his job, he then decided to take the twins to his own biological mother in Nigeria whom he strongly believed will take good care of the kids.

Having noticed this, Ojelere’s estranged wife we gathered, visited the director’s mum in Nigeria to take the babies but she wasn’t given that chance.

She then moved to a nearby police station at Ojokoro, Ogun State to report the case. She alleged that the director kidnapped their kids in Ghana and brought them to his mum in Nigeria.

Ojelere was invited by the police and he returned to Nigeria to honour the call, on getting to the police station, he was locked up in the cell for kidnapping his own kids while his mum was put behind bar for hours.

We further gathered that the separation was influenced when Favour, who is a complete house wife allegedly collected money from another man to abort the pregnancy of their supposed second born.

This action was taken because her mother allegedly said she should not get pregnant for their second born yet.

Newly Crowned Miss Nigeria, Garko Shatu May Be Arrested

By DENNIS EREZI

Newly crowned Miss Nigeria Shatu Garko and her parents may be arrested by Hisbah police in Kano State who said participating in a beauty pageant is forbidden in Islam.

Garko, an 18-year-old indigene of Kano State recently became the 44th Miss Nigeria, the first hijab adorning Muslims to win the beauty pageant.

Even though Garko participated in the pageant adorning her hijab, Kano State Hisbah police said the Miss Nigeria contest is “illegal and contrary” to Islamic beliefs.

Hisbah police is an agency established to enforce Sharia law in Nigeria’s northern states.

Kano State Hisbah commander Haruna Ibn Sina, who spoke with BBC Hausa, quoted sections of the Quran that say a woman’s beauty should only be seen by her husband, parents, and children.

Sina said the beauty of a woman in Islam should only be seen by members of the public “unless it is obvious.”

“It is maganarar haram to talk about the beauty pageant … because, first of all, the sanctity of Islam is violated in it. not, that they should be taught not to be ashamed,” Sina said.

Even when the beauty of a woman is obvious, Sina said the woman holds the responsibility to cover herself with veils.

“Then they should cover themselves with their veils, and do not reveal their private parts except for their husbands, parents or children,” Sina said.

“This indicates that it is harmful for a girl as a believer to do such [competition].”

Sina said Hisbah police had confirmed that Garko’s parents are living in Kano and will soon be brought into custody and interrogated for the role their daughter played in the beauty contest.

He, however, did not disclose when Garko and her parents will be interrogated for what he says is a violation of Islamic provisions.

Hisbah police have been vocal in enforcing what they term as Islamic provisions on people of northern Nigeria whether elite or the masses.

The Islamic police in August 2021 prohibited the sharing of pre-wedding photos of the daughter of Emir of Kano Zahrah Bayero, who married Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it is a sin.

Currently, Hisbah police has banned fashion designers, supermarkets, and boutique owners from using mannequins to display clothes in Kano State.

Sina said it “violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam.” (The Guardian)
