We Will Set The Party On Fire If Tinubu Includes Kwankwaso In His Cabinet - APC Chieftain Warns

Kwamanda said the party in the entire north-west zone would not welcome Kwankwaso and will withdraw their support for Tinubu if Kwankwaso is given a portfolio in his government.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Abdulmajid Kwamanda, has urged the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu not to include the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso in his cabinet.

He made the appeal after both politicians were reported to have held a meeting.

Addressing reporters in Kano on Thursday, May 18, Kwamanda said the party in the entire north-west zone would not welcome Kwankwaso and will withdraw their support for Tinubu if Kwankwaso is given a portfolio in his government.

He also warned that if they set the party on fire, even the president-elect would be unable to put it off if Kwankwaso is appointed in his cabinet.

He said;

“We in the north-west do not welcome Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to our party APC. We do not accept the idea of Bola Tinubu giving him any appointment even as low as a messenger in our dear party.

“Should Tinubu ignore our outcry and appoint Kwankwaso, we are going to disrupt the entire APC in the north and withdraw our support for him.

“If we set the party on fire, not even Tinubu as a president can put out that fire. We are north and the people are our people.

“We have invested all our efforts, integrity and dignity in the North to mobilize the people to vote for Tinubu, they refused to vote for a fellow northerner just for him to win in the region and now come and embrace our major opposition. We will not accept that.

“We assure Tinubu that we will turn our backs on him if he decides to ignore our call. We don’t welcome Kwankwaso to our party and don’t give him any appointments.”

Lagos CP Visits Okada Man Brutaliaed By Police Officers In Viral Video

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, on Thursday, visited the okada rider, who was assaulted by some police officers in a viral video.

Three policemen were seen in a viral video brutalising the Okada man. One of the policemen was seen hitting his baton on the man as another one was pushing him away. The man, who tried to wrestle his bike with the policemen, sustained injury as he held on to his forehead where blood was seen gushing out from.

The third policeman rode away on the victim’s bike while the two others immediately left the scene in a tricycle.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a series of tweets via his Twitter account, said that Owohunwa condemned the policemen’s actions and told the public that disciplinary action had already been taken against the men.

He said, “CP Idowu Owohunwa today visited the young man involved in this incident and members/leadership of Hausa community in Abattoir Market, Agege.

“The CP, who condemned the excessive use of force by the policemen in enforcing the existing ban on use of motorcycles in certain parts of Lagos State, has assured members of the public that the disciplinary measures already initiated against the men would be brought to a logical conclusion and the outcome made public.

“The Command will continue to ensure that the rule of law is upheld, while not relenting in enforcing the laws of the land".

Gov Matawalle Under Investigation For N70b Fraud – EFCC

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is currently probing Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, over alleged N70bn fraud.

The anti-graft agency also confirmed that a former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, who was recently arrested by the operatives of the commission over alleged N22bn fraud is still in detention.

Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Abdulrasheed Bawa, made the disclosure at a press briefing today, urging Nigerians not to be swayed by Matawalle’s recent outburst.

Th governor had levelled allegations against Bawa and dared the commission to go after members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

But Bawa, who spoke through the Director of Public Affairs of the commission, Osita Nwajah, explained that the agency was not supposed to dignify Matawalle with a response but it did in order to set the record straight.

“It is intriguing that Matawalle would want to take on the role of a supervisor, who tells the EFCC whom to investigate. Is this a case of a thief saying he must not be touched until other thieves are caught… He is under investigation for N70 billion fraud.

“Unfortunately, it is not within Matawalle’s remit to dictate to the EFCC whom to arrest, when and where. Suspects in the custody of the Commission cut across all sectors and social class.

“The qualification to get a space in the Commission’s detention facility, is to commit a crime. It does not matter whether you are a priest , Imam, Governor or minister.

“Currently, a former minister of power is in the custody of the EFCC over a N22billion corruption allegation. That conveniently did not attract Matawalle’s attention,” Nwajah said.

PLATEAU: Over 200 Persons Dead From Recent Attacks

A member of the Plateau State House of Representatives, Solomon Marren, has stated that 200 persons have been killed in his constituency in the last few months.

In a statement issued yesterday night, Marren, who represents the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, urged President Buhari to direct security services to secure lives and property in the region.

The statement partly read, “I find it expedient at this time to intimate the world on the unfortunate happenings in my constituency, Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Plateau state, in the last two days, where over 100 persons, most of them women and children, have been massacred and butchered in cold blood by terrorist during an overnight unprovoked attack, and their houses burnt down, including food stuffs, food barns and seedlings.

“These killings are one among many in the constituency, where over 200 persons have been killed in the last four months before this one.

“The government may claim to be doing its best but its best is not good enough, since it is not able to stop the killings in years.

“However, I commend the few gallant officers working without sufficient arms, yet gave themselves to save lives.

“The responsibilities lies in the President to first condemn the dastard act, which we expect him to do so, and immediately go ahead to protect lives and properties which is the primary responsibility of the government. Therefore, I urge the President to order the security agencies to move into the area with immediate effect to curb the killings.”

The lawmaker additionally urged the National Emergency Management Agency and other “good-hearted” organizations to come to the aid of the injured survivors of the incident.

“While urging for support across boards, I condemn the attack in its entirety and call for calm and no one should take the law into their hands,” he added.
