The 38th President of Rotary Club of Akowonjo Charges Members To Embark On Extraordinary Journey Of Service

 


The Rotary Club of Akowonjo under the auspices of Rotary International has promised to give hope to communities in the Akowonjo suburb of the Alimosho Local Government of the state covering the Rotary’s seven areas of focus which are Basic Education and Literacy, Maternity and Child Health, Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Community and Economic Development and Supporting The Environment”.


This promise was made by the 38th President of Rotary Club of Akowonjo, Rotarian (Dr.) Olasunkanmi Esther Sam-Amoye at the inaugural fellowship of the club which held last week at the Lagos Airport Hotel ushering in the new Rotary year christened “Rotary Creates Hope in the World”. 

In her inaugural speech during the event titled “Night of Blues”, the club’s President, Olasunkanmi Sam-Amoye stated that she intends to work with members of her board to create hope for the Akowonjo community by “identifying and collaborating with corporates, government agencies and individuals to impact our communities through service to humanity in line with the Rotary theme of the year”.


The new president of the club noted that “as members of the Rotary Club of Akowonjo“, we are united by our unwavering commitment to spreading hope in our communities, both near and far adding that it is through our collective efforts, fueled by compassion and dedication, that we will make a lasting impact and create a world filled with possibilities.


According to Dr. Sam-Amoye, “during my presidency, I envision our club, “The Achievers’ Club” as a beacon of hope for all” noting that “we will strive to be the catalysts of positive change, extending a helping hand to those in need and uplifting spirits through our various initiatives because our vision will be to encourage each and every member to embrace the spirit of selflessness, extend acts of kindness to others and to create moments that instill hope for the future we eagerly anticipate”.


Consequently, she charged members of the club to “embark on this extraordinary journey of service, knowing that their collective efforts will bring joy, alleviate suffering, and inspire countless lives” adding that “as we join hands in fellowship today, let us ignite the fire of hope within us, for it is through hope that we will forge a path towards a brighter tomorrow but let us always remember that the hope we seek to create starts with us, as members of this incredible club”.


At the well-attended event which had Rotary dignitaries like Past District Governor Abayomi Adewunmi, Past District Governor Otunba Bola Onabadejo, Past District Governor Bola Oyebade, Past Assistant Governor Dr. Olukayode Akinlade, leaders of industries, Rotarians and guests alike, Rotarian Sunkanmi Sam-Amoye stated “in the year ahead and years to come, let us unite as a family, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way, create a nurturing and inclusive environment where ideas flourish, where collaboration thrives, and where every member feels valued and empowered. As she puts it: “together, we will amplify our impact and create a ripple effect of hope that will extend far beyond our club's boundaries”.


In her views on the day’s event, she remarked that “as we gather for our inaugural Rotary fellowship, we are transported into a world of enchantment and a romantic embrace of service to humanity as we celebrate "A Night of Blues” and according to her, "this captivating theme holds deep symbolism, representing significant aspects that resonate with the spirit of our club and the journey that lies ahead”


The highpoints of the inaugural fellowship was the presentation of award by the president to the immediate past president Rotarian Wale Ajenifuja but received on his behalf by Rotarian Victor Amaraegbu because of his absence due to ill health. 


Meanwhile, the investiture of the 38th president and board of directors of Rotary Club of Akowonjo has been scheduled for Sunday September 24, 2023 and it will be graced by the second female Governor of District 9110 Rotarian Ify Ezije and part of the day’s event will be the unveiling of the club’s plan for the Rotary year.

Ijakumo’, Thrives On Popular Streaming Platform, Netflix.


The award-winning actress took to Instagram to express gratitude to God and share belief in the power of manifesting one’s desires.

Ijakumo, is a film that explores the story of a born-again stripper and already made waves six months ago when it claimed the top spot as the number one indigenous language drama at the West African Box Office.

Also the movie has held the number one position on Netflix in Nigeria for an impressive two weeks in a row, making it the sole Nigerian film to achieve such a feat in 2023,” she said.

Overly excited Toyin stressed on the importance of speaking one’s aspirations into existence and putting in the necessary effort to bring them to fruition.

She urged her followers to trust in the power of manifesting their desires and highlighted that God listens and rewards those who remain steadfast.

The actress’ Instagram post resonated with her fans and followers, who were inspired by her words and thrilled by the success of “Ijakumo.”

66.6k: Mercy Johnson Cries Out Over "Strange Number" On Threads App


 Actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has taken to Instagram to express her astonishment at the strange number she discovered on her follower’s count on Threads App.

This came after the launch of Mark Zuckerberg’s new social networking app, Threads on Wednesday as a number of Nigerian celebrities and influencers are already showing great interest in the platform.

She noticed that her follower’s count displayed the alleged satanic number, 666, and found it rather unsettling. In an attempt to change this number, she pleaded with her fans and followers to join her on Threads App and increase her follower count, hoping to alter the digits from 66.6K.

The actress, in a light-hearted manner, posted: “Abeg, I dey fear this number wey my Followers dey. Make una Follow me small on @threadsapp make e change. Abeg 666 bawo?” .

Translated to English, she playfully implored her fans to follow her on the Threads app, hoping to reduce her concerns about the satanic connotation associated with the current followers count.

Fans found Mercy‘s outcry amusing and came to her aid by promising to follow her on the app, ensuring that the numbers would change.

 Their responses indicated willingness to support the actress in altering her followers count and reduce any worries associated with the allegedly ominous number.

My Scar Tells A Story . ....Lateef Adedimeji


 Popular Nollywood actor Adedimeji Lateef Adetola has gone on his verified social media page as he opened up on his scars.

Lateef Adedimeji, who is known for his perfect role in  blockbuster movies like Ayinla, Strangers among many others, revealed that his scars tell a story. 

He made it known while sharing beautiful clip of himself in his Instagram page of 3.6 million followers.

According to the movie star, his scars are a reminder of when life tried to break him but failed.

Earlier this year, the actor reflected on his humble beginnings as he revealed that the journey and story of his life has never been smooth but his inner Abeokuta and Lagos spirit never gave up. 

Sharing his grass-to-grace story, he revealed he was once paid N5000 for a lead role.
