On every February 14th, people across the world, exchange different gifts such as candy, flowers, with their love once. it is a very important to lovers to show or express your feelings to the one you love. the story of Valentine begins with three early christian saints. One was a priest in Rome, one is a Bishop in Terni and the third is St. Valentine which alomst nothing is known about except that he met his end in Africa. Astonishingly, all the three Valentime were said to have been martyred in Feb 14.
Valentine who was a priest served in Rome in third century when Emperor Cladius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families and he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine felt this was unfair and he celebrated marriages in secret. When Emperor finds out he was thrown into jail and sentenced to death.
it was more than 200 years later that February 14th was proclaimed as st. Valentine. By this time Rome had become christian and the Catholic church was determined to stamp out any remaining paganism. A pagan ritual was held in February each year and the Pope abolished the festival and proclaimed february 14, thus establishing this feast day on the Catholic calender of saint.
Happy Valentine!!!
